Chhichhore Movie Story Details
Raghav fails to get admission which results in him attempting to commit suicide by jumping off his friend’s balcony. He suffers from brain hemorrhage and this could damage his brain and other parts. Anni chides the unconscious Raghav and tells him that he was also a failure in his hostel days. The doctor comes in and tells him that the swelling is increasing slowly and that they have to get surgery done for their son to remove the swelling. Then Anni realizes of his old friends in the hostel, his hostel life. He decides to tell his son about the story of his friends. His wife thinks that this is the stupidest way to bring Raghav back. But he heeds no demand for his wife and he starts the story.
The story starts with the first loser, Sexa, who was known as a playboy and was a hard-on back days. He used to rag students, auctioned for porn books and always won, and other weird stuff. The first time Anni came to the hostel, he was told that he has to live in hostel H4. The person doing names then tells Anni that you can change the hostel if you want because that’s the place where losers go. Terrified, Anni decides to switch hostels, but to no vain, he couldn’t go back. The second loser was Acid, who used to say a lot of bad words during small moments.
Before that, he was a good student, with good passing grades. But after reaching Engineering college, his life took a turn. He used to get failed in every subject and his professors used to tell him that he was up to no good and that he will not get good marks. This enraged him more and more to an extent that whenever he sees his professors, he gets angry and starts using abusive bad words. Therefore he was called acid. The third loser was Mummy, a Momma’s boy, who used to not know about any things about real life. He used to get his things done from his mom only. His father went to the hostel and asked Acid and Sexa to rag his son and make him a better man. After making him a better man, Mummy’s father thanks his friends to make him a better man.
The Fourth loser was Derek, who was king of an athlete, who was best in everything but couldn’t do anything because of his teammates. He used to bring best in everybody, but he always used to get failed against H3 in General Championships a.k.a GC. They’ve always got last in GC every year. This time Anni brings the whole group together. Loser no. 5, Bevda., used to drink every day. He had a place for his statch of alcoholic drinks. He used to train their group in drinking. Remembering the train, there was an incident where Bevda was involved. He was coming from his summer holidays through a train and he was drinking vodka. He had mixed vodka in a water bottle and was enjoying the journey.
The couple gave him abusive bad words. This was the incident. The sixth loser was Anni himself. He had joined the group of losers and participated in GC. Anni had a crush on this girl, Maya. He used to meet her and talked to her.
Then the GC started. H4 and H3 were preparing for this year to get rid of the ‘loser tag’. They tried various techniques, to give up their dreams, to train hard and to participate in events. But they didn’t pass. But Anni had an idea. He used tactics and his intelligence to beat every round. Mummy was good in carrom, Bevda was a master in chess, Derek was good in running, Anni was good in basketball and cricket and every participant were good in different sports and Anni used some of his tactics to train his friends to win the GC. In this way, they reached finals. Everyone won in their sports, except Anni.
In the last match, Anni tries to throw the ball into the hoop, but it bounces back from the hoop and they lose the match. H3 hostel won the match. But they cheered H4 hostel for their hard work and praised them for their team spirit. The whole crowd cheered for them. In the present, Anni’s son Raghav cries and asked them whether they wished to die after the moment they lost. They replied no. Anni gave advice to him that losing doesn’t matter. You have to try harder in order to achieve success. Winning or losing, you have to embrace it in order to be a good man. After this Raghav is taken to the operation theatre for his surgery.
The operation is successful and Raghav recovers from the injuries. He takes admission to a college, finally accepting the fact that he could not get into IIT. He meets a senior just like his father’s first day in the hostel and smiles.

Chhichhore Movie Review Details
Stress and overwhelming anxiety is a reality for many young students in India. More so, for those who appear for highly competitive engineering and medical entrance exams. And sometimes, those who do not make it through the criteria find themselves in a whirlpool of doubt and depression. Unable to take failure in the face of family and peer pressure, they often resort to actions that can cause irreparable damage to themselves and their families.
While this bleak reality is at the center of Chhichhore’s narrative, its heart and soul is purely reserved for the carefree college and hostel days that shape lifelong bonds and life lessons.
Anirudh (Sushant Singh Rajput) lovingly called Anni by his college buddies and Maya (Shraddha Kapoor), a divorced couple, find themselves in a desperate situation when their teenaged son, Raghav attempts suicide. The doctors indicate that he is critical, not just physically but mentally too. Anirudh believes the only way to bring him out of this darkness is to take Raghav down his own memory lane (back to his hostel days from engineering college). A place where he not just fell in love with Maya but also, forged friendships with ‘Sexa’ (Varun Sharma), ‘Acid’ (Naveen Polishetty), Derek (Tahir Raj Bhasin), ‘Bevda’ (Saharsh Kumar Shukla) and ‘Mummy’ (Tushar Pandey).
As the film’s narrative walks us down the hostel corridors, director Nitesh Tiwari creates an authentic world that is evidently filled with nuggets of nostalgia and breezy, vibrant energy. There are some genuinely very funny moments that click but also be prepared for a generous helping of low-brow, frat-boy jokes, all of which may not be palatable. However, there is no doubt that in its flashback mode – packed with romance, comedy, a sporting championship and some hard realities of hostel life – ‘Chhichhore’ soars. And when it zips back to the present day, where the group has an unlikely reunion, it’s heartwarming to witness that their friendship has survived the test of time and distance.
The arc of the screenplay though is mostly predictable and has a ‘Three Idiots’ hangover. And with a lengthy runtime of almost two and a half hours, the pace lags in the second half. It’s the emotional drama, fun quotient and a surprise element in the climax that keeps one invested. Shraddha Kapoor, packs in a solid performance both as the younger and older Maya.
Sushant Singh Rajput shines as the young Anni (watch out for the scene where he goes tongue-tied in front of Maya!), however, as the older Annirudh he seems a little uncomfortable. In fact, as the young lot – the performances are consistent – Varun Sharma steals the show in many of the scenes with his comic timing. Tahir Raj Bhasin is impressive as the intense Derek. Naveen Polishetty, Prateik Babbar, Tushar Pandey, and Saharsh Singh also enhance the film with their likable performances. Together, as a group of friends, they have an easy camaraderie that’s relatable.
‘Chhichhore’ has a relevant message on the inherent attitude towards academic success and failure that will connect with many youngsters and parents of today. It tells you that the journey is far more important than the destination and that losing is as critical a life lesson as winning. The film scores high on many accounts and is certainly worth watching.
